THE MARCELINO TOSSEN FAMILY

After we returned from our boat ride around 2:30 in the afternoon, we walked around Ushuaia a bit more then went back to our hotel to get ready to go to Hermano Tossens's home.  He picked us up at 5:00 pm and drove us to their lovely home to meet his family and have some desserts.

Lorena his wife is simply lovely and so very gracious and beautiful as well.  Two daughters, Cristal and Camil, and a little boy, David.  Lorena is an artist and paints the most beautiful designs on china plates. She set a beautiful table and we all enjoyed special drinks of one kind or another and a lucious strawberry pie and a yummy lemon pie.  We really enjoyed visiting with the children and asking them questions about their schooling.  We were also very interested in Lorena's art work and Hermano Tossen brought out a large pile of china that had been painted by his darling wife.  It was gorgeous!

This lovely table set by Lorena.

After spending a couple of hours visiting with the family, the girls had to go to their English lessons,  so Hermano Tossen took us back to our hotel  for an hour or so until the girls were finished with their lessons then we would all go to dinner.

Many, many young Argentine families live busy lives, with both husband and wife working.  Lorena teaches school every afternoon plus she teaches early morning seminary.  The children return from school very late in the afternoon and then have separate English classes from 8-9:00 in the evening.  Then they usually eat dinner after English lessons in the late evening.

Hermano Tossen came with his family to get us at the hotel around 9:30.  We went to a lovely restaurant and had a great dinner and great conversation!  It was such fun I would have a hard time describing it!  Here are a few photos.

We finished eating dinner around 11:30 in the evening which is quite common in South America.  It was fun though and we embraced the experience!  We have had a number of late night dinners in Argentina!

  1. I served in the Tossen's ward before they had kids in 1998-99. (Marcelino was Elders Quorum Pres.) I miss that family!
